Located within 5 minutes' walk of the Kamo river "Sanjo-Ohashi Bridge", the 4-star Hotel Honnoji Kyoto offers 14 rooms with views of the city. Nestled in the Shijo district, this Kyoto hotel is a short way from the Kamo River and has separate men/women spa areas and a hot spring public bath.
The hotel is perfectly situated 3.3 km from the Zen Temple of the Silver Pavilion and 2.2 km from the Ninenzaka. The Honnoji stands just a few steps from Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae tube station. Guests might as well visit Rock'n Plaza, which is a mere 550 metres away. The accommodation is also within a few blocks of the Goou Jinja Shinto Shrine and Kawaramachi Marutamachi bus station is only a 10-minute walk away. For those travelling from afar, Itami airport is 54 minutes' drive away.

During my recent stay in Kyoto, I was pleased with the immersive experience offered by my accommodation. The entrance beautifully embodied traditional Japanese design, immediately setting the tone for my visit. The private bathroom and spacious room were notably clean, rotating between modern comforts and authentic aesthetic touches, culminating in an inviting atmosphere. As an archaeologist, I appreciate the little details, and the view of the nearby temple enhanced the cultural experience. Surprisingly, the futons provided a restful night, a pleasant surprise for someone unaccustomed to that style of sleeping. The staff were attentive, offering an umbrella on a rainy Kyoto day, which truly helped during my explorations of the city's rich history. While I did not partake in breakfast, the convenient minimarket nearby was a nice touch for my on-the-go lifestyle.
